Blastpipe

A nozzle or pipe located in the smokebox of a steam locomotive, positioned to direct exhaust steam upwards through the chimney. This arrangement creates a partial vacuum in the smokebox, drawing combustion gases through the boiler tubes and enhancing the draft for the fire.
