Bottom out
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000711
To reach the lowest possible limit or extent of movement for a mechanical component, often indicating that a mechanism has reached its full travel. This can occur in suspension systems when the spring or damper is fully compressed, or in a hydraulic cylinder when the piston reaches the end of its stroke. Repeated bottoming out can cause damage to components.
