Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000765
A type of air admittance valve installed on a plumbing drainage system to allow air to enter the pipes. It opens automatically when negative pressure (suction) occurs as fixtures drain, preventing the siphoning of water from fixture traps. The valve remains closed under neutral or positive pressure to stop sewer gases from escaping into the building.
