Calligraphic projection
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000922
A method for generating images on a cathode-ray tube by directly steering the electron beam to draw lines, rather than scanning a fixed raster pattern. The beam traces the outlines of shapes and characters one vector at a time, similar to a pen plotter, resulting in sharp, continuous lines. This vector display technique was used in early computer-aided design systems, specialized oscilloscopes, and arcade games before being largely replaced by raster graphics.
