Scan line

A single horizontal row of pixels or picture elements that make up an image on a display screen or in a video signal. In raster scanning, an electron beam or digital process sequentially illuminates or processes these lines to construct the complete visual frame. The number of scan lines determines the vertical resolution of a display, such as 480p or 1080i.
