Compost heap

A pile of organic materials, such as plant debris, food scraps, and manure, undergoing decomposition. Microorganisms break down these materials into nutrient-rich humus, which improves soil structure and fertility. Maintaining proper moisture and aeration within the heap accelerates the composting process, which can take several weeks to months.
