Slash pile

An accumulation of woody debris, such as branches, logs, and stumps, left over from logging operations, land clearing, or forest thinning. These piles are often burned to reduce fuel loads and prepare the site for reforestation or other land uses. The size and composition of a slash pile depend on the type of timber harvested and the clearing method.
