A liquid coating applied to fabric aircraft surfaces, such as wings and fuselage, to tauten the fabric, make it airtight, and protect it from environmental degradation. It typically consists of cellulose nitrate or cellulose acetate dissolved in solvents. Doping is a traditional method for finishing fabric-covered aircraft, providing structural rigidity and weather resistance.
