A specialized thread compound or lubricant applied to the threaded connections of drill pipe, casing, and tubing. This compound prevents galling, corrosion, and leakage in the connections, while also facilitating their make-up and break-out. It typically contains a mixture of grease, metallic particles, and other additives to withstand high pressures and temperatures.
