Pipe dope

A specialized lubricant and sealant applied to the threads of tubular connections, such as drill pipe, casing, and tubing, before they are made up. This compound prevents galling, provides a seal against fluid leakage, and facilitates proper torque application. Pipe dope typically contains metallic particles like zinc or copper.
