Buttress thread
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000499
A type of pipe thread characterized by a flat-topped, asymmetrical profile with one flank perpendicular to the pipe axis and the other angled. This design provides high tensile strength and resistance to jump-out, making it suitable for heavy-duty casing and tubing connections. Buttress threads are commonly used in high-pressure and deep well applications.
