Pitch-and-lead
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002810
Two related measurements of a screw thread: pitch is the axial distance between corresponding points on adjacent thread crests, and lead is the axial distance the thread advances in one full turn. On a single-start thread the two are equal, while on a multi-start thread the lead equals the pitch multiplied by the number of starts. For example, a double-start thread with a pitch of 0.25 inch advances 0.5 inch per turn.
