Pitot tube
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002811
A device used to measure the local velocity of a fluid flow by determining the difference between the stagnation pressure and the static pressure at a point in the stream. It consists of two concentric tubes, one facing upstream to measure total pressure and the other with side holes for static pressure. Pitot tubes are often used for gas flow measurement in stacks or large ducts.
