Double-declutch
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001808
A manual transmission shifting technique involving pressing the clutch, shifting to neutral, releasing the clutch, blipping the throttle to match engine and transmission speeds, then pressing the clutch again to select the desired gear. This method was historically used to synchronize gears in non-synchromesh transmissions. While largely obsolete in modern cars, it can reduce wear on synchros.
