Drive-by-wire

An automotive control system that replaces traditional mechanical linkages with electronic sensors, actuators, and wiring. This technology is applied to functions such as throttle control, steering, and braking. For example, electronic throttle control uses a sensor at the pedal to send a signal to the engine's throttle body.
