Dumpy level

A surveying instrument used to establish or verify points that lie on the same horizontal plane. It consists of a telescope rigidly fixed to a vertical spindle, which rotates on a leveling head. This device is commonly used for tasks such as setting out foundations, measuring differences in elevation, and checking gradients on construction sites.
