Eigenray
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001985
A specific sound or electromagnetic ray path that connects a designated source point to a designated receiver point in a given environment. In acoustic or radio propagation modeling, finding the eigenrays involves a search for the precise initial angles of departure from the source that will cause the ray to intersect the receiver after reflections and refractions. The travel time, arrival angle, and amplitude of each found eigenray contribute to the total received signal at that point.
