A non-destructive testing method, known as Eddy current Testing, that uses electromagnetic induction to find defects in conductive materials. A probe containing a coil with an alternating current is moved over the part's surface, inducing circular eddy currents; discontinuities like cracks or corrosion alter the current flow, which is registered by the instrument. This technique is widely applied in aviation maintenance for inspecting metallic aircraft structures, engine components, and landing gear for fatigue cracks.
