The gradual increase in the amplitude or intensity of an audio or video signal from silence or darkness to a desired level. This technique is used in broadcasting, sound engineering, and film production to create smooth transitions and avoid abrupt changes. A fade-in typically occurs over a period of several seconds, depending on the desired effect.
