Flashover voltage
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002328
The minimum voltage at which an electrical discharge occurs through the air or across the surface of an insulator, bypassing the intended insulation path. This phenomenon results in a sudden, uncontrolled flow of current, often accompanied by light and heat. It is a key parameter in the design and testing of high-voltage equipment and electrical insulation systems, measured in kilovolts.
