Gobline
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002603
The boundary line between the active working area of a mine and the gob, which is the void left behind after the mineral has been extracted. As mining progresses, particularly in longwall operations, this line advances, and the roof in the gob area is allowed to collapse in a controlled manner behind the powered roof supports. The position of the gobline is a primary reference for tracking production progress and managing ventilation.
