Ground loop
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002665
An unwanted current flowing through a conductor connecting two points that are nominally at ground potential but have different actual potentials. This difference creates a voltage, causing current to flow and often resulting in hum or noise in audio and video systems. Proper grounding techniques, such as star grounding, can mitigate this issue.
