Half-silvered mirror

An optical component, also known as a beam splitter, that is coated with a thin, partially reflective layer designed to transmit a portion of incident light while reflecting the remainder. The ratio of transmitted to reflected light can vary, typically 50/50. These mirrors are used in interferometers, cameras, and other optical instruments to divide light paths.
