Beamsplitting
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000483
The division of a single beam of light or other electromagnetic radiation into two or more separate beams. This process is performed by a beamsplitter, an optical component that reflects a portion of the incident beam while transmitting the remainder. Common designs include cube beamsplitters, made from two prisms cemented together, and plate beamsplitters, which use a thin, partially reflective coating on a transparent substrate.
