High-octane

Describing gasoline with a high octane rating, indicating its resistance to knocking or pre-ignition in an internal combustion engine. Engines with high compression ratios or turbochargers often require high-octane fuel to prevent engine damage. The octane rating is a measure of the fuel's anti-knock properties.
