Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003040
A fuel tank formed by sealing a portion of the aircraft's structure, such as the wing box or horizontal stabilizer, to serve as the container for fuel. This design, also known as a wet wing, saves weight and space compared to using separate, self-contained fuel bladders or tanks. Maintenance involves inspecting and repairing the sealant and structure to prevent leaks, a process governed by the aircraft's structural repair manual and airworthiness directives.
