Wing

An outboard section of a ship's hold or tank, located to the port or starboard side of the vessel's centerline. Wing tanks are used for storing ballast water, fuel, or liquid cargo, contributing to the ship's stability and trim. These compartments are distinct from the center tanks and are bounded by the side shell plating and a longitudinal bulkhead.
