An Inertial Reference System, an aircraft navigation system that uses gyroscopes and accelerometers to continuously calculate the aircraft's position, velocity, and attitude without external references. This system provides highly accurate data for flight management computers and cockpit displays. It is a self-contained system that does not rely on ground-based signals after initial alignment.
