Macrostructure

The overall structural features of a metal or alloy that are visible to the unaided eye or at low magnification, typically less than 10x. This includes characteristics such as grain size, porosity, segregation patterns, and the presence of large inclusions. Examination of the macrostructure provides insights into the casting, welding, or forming history of a material.
