Openband
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004013
A right-handed twist in a yarn, twine, or rope, also called a Z twist, in which the individual fibres slope up and to the right when the strand is held vertically. The opposite twist direction, left-handed, is called crossband. Twist direction is specified when strands are plied or laid together, because mixing directions changes how the product behaves.
