Optical switch

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004026

A device that selectively redirects or switches optical signals from one fiber optic path to another without converting them into electrical signals. These switches operate by physically moving fibers, using micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), or employing electro-optic effects. They are integral components in fiber optic communication networks for routing data and network protection.
