Overlaunch

The intentional production of a quantity of a new product that exceeds the initial sales forecast or planned launch volume. This strategy is employed to create a buffer stock, mitigating the risk of stockouts if initial demand proves to be stronger than anticipated. An overlaunch contrasts with a soft launch, where a product is introduced to a limited market to test its reception before a full-scale rollout.
