Phosphate

A salt or ester of phosphoric acid, containing the phosphate ion (PO4^3-), which is a primary nutrient for plant growth. In agriculture, it is applied to soils as a fertilizer to promote root development, flowering, and fruiting. Common phosphate fertilizers include diammonium phosphate (DAP) and monoammonium phosphate (MAP).
