Polygon of forces

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004402

A graphical method used to determine the resultant of several coplanar forces acting on a particle. Each force is represented by a vector, and these vectors are drawn head-to-tail to form a closed polygon if the system is in equilibrium. If the polygon does not close, the vector required to close it represents the resultant force.
