Poppet

A temporary support structure used in shipbuilding, particularly during the launching of a vessel. Poppets are typically wooden or steel blocks arranged along the hull to transfer the ship's weight from the keel blocks to the launching ways. They are designed to collapse or release as the vessel slides into the water.
