PS/2
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004547
A 6-pin mini-DIN connector and serial communication protocol formerly used to connect keyboards and mice to computers. Though largely replaced in consumer electronics by USB, it persists in some industrial and server applications due to its simple, direct electrical interface and the ability to handle multiple simultaneous key presses without data loss. The keyboard and mouse ports are electrically similar but use different sets of pins and are not always interchangeable on older hardware.
