PTH
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004562
A hole drilled through a printed circuit board and plated with copper on its wall, so that it links conductive layers and receives a component lead that is then soldered in place. The same abbreviation is used for through-hole assembly, in which leaded parts are inserted into such holes, a method that gives stronger mechanical bonds than surface mounting and remains common for large connectors and power transistors.
