A vertical electrical connection that passes through one or more layers of a printed circuit board (PCB) or integrated circuit (IC). Vias allow signals to travel between different conductive layers, enabling complex circuit routing in a compact space. They are typically formed by drilling a hole and plating it with a conductive material.
