Sandwich beam

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005045

A structural beam composed of three or more layers of different materials bonded together, where a core material is sandwiched between two outer layers. The outer layers, often of higher strength, resist bending stresses, while the lighter core provides shear resistance and separation. This construction method creates a high strength-to-weight ratio, common in aerospace and lightweight construction.
