Sandwich shell

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005046

A structural element characterized by a thin, curved outer layer (shell) enclosing a core material, forming a composite structure. Similar to a sandwich beam, it uses a lightweight core between two strong face sheets to achieve high stiffness and strength-to-weight ratios. These shells are often used in aerospace, marine, and some architectural applications where lightweight, rigid curved forms are required.
