Sealant backing

A compressible material inserted into a joint before applying sealant, serving to control the depth of the sealant bead and prevent three-sided adhesion. This material, often a closed-cell foam rod, creates the correct sealant profile for optimal performance and flexibility. It also acts as a bond breaker at the back of the joint.
