Semaphore signal

A type of railway signal that conveys instructions to train drivers by the position of a movable arm or 'blade'. The arm's angle indicates whether the line ahead is clear or occupied. These mechanical signals were widely used historically and are still found in some regions, though modern railways primarily use color light signals.
