Skyhook

A hypothetical or theoretical device that would allow an aircraft to remain stationary in the air without consuming fuel, often by attaching to a fixed point in the sky. In a more practical sense, it can refer to a system for air-dropping or retrieving objects from the ground. The term is also used metaphorically for an impossible solution.
