Slipstitch

A hand-sewing stitch that is nearly invisible on the right side of the fabric, used for joining two folded edges or attaching an appliqué. The needle picks up only a few threads from the main fabric, then passes through the folded edge of the piece being attached. This stitch is frequently employed for hemming garments or finishing linings.
