Sorbitize
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005472
To subject steel to a specific heat treatment that results in a sorbitic microstructure. This process involves controlled cooling from the austenitic phase, typically in air or an oil bath, to achieve a balance of strength and ductility. The cooling rate for sorbitizing is intermediate between that used for full annealing and rapid quenching.
