Spat

A removable or integrated panel that covers part of a vehicle's wheel opening, typically the upper rear portion of the rear wheel. Spats are primarily used to improve aerodynamic efficiency by smoothing airflow over the wheels, reducing drag. They were a common styling feature on some classic and custom vehicles.
