System bus
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005835
A set of parallel electrical conductors that transfers data, addresses, and control signals between the main components of a computer or microprocessor-based system, such as the central processing unit (CPU), memory, and input/output peripherals. It is composed of three distinct parts: the data bus for data transfer, the address bus for specifying memory locations, and the control bus for managing operations. The width of the data bus, measured in bits like 32 or 64, combined with its clock speed, determines the overall data throughput of the system.
