TLB
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006043
A memory cache, the translation lookaside buffer, used by a processor's memory management unit to speed up the conversion of virtual memory addresses to physical memory addresses. When a virtual address needs translation, the processor first checks the TLB for a cached entry. A 'TLB hit' avoids a slower search of the full page table stored in main memory, while a 'TLB miss' requires this search and adds the new translation to the buffer.
