Traffic beam
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006114
The low-beam setting of a vehicle's headlamps, aimed downward with an asymmetric cutoff that keeps light out of the eyes of oncoming drivers while still lighting the road and verge ahead. In right-hand traffic the pattern rises toward the right edge of the road, and in left-hand traffic it is mirrored. It is the setting used when other vehicles are present, with the high beam as the alternative.
