Unlock
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-007347
A state in a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit where the output signal's phase is no longer synchronized with the input reference signal's phase. This condition occurs when the frequency difference between the input and the voltage-controlled oscillator exceeds the loop's capture range, causing the control system to lose its corrective tracking ability. An unlock detector circuit signals this loss of lock, which can trigger system resets or alarms in communication and data recovery systems.
